I need my husband ......

. . . and I swirl! Brock AGAIN left me for a week for some battlefield training out in Texas. He actually sounds like he is having a GREAT time (shooting guns, driving Hum-vees, war games, etc.) but he is doing his best to make it seem like he really wishes he was with me (thanks, honey) I on the other hand am thrilled he's coming home tonight and can't wait to pick up the babysitter, so we can spend some alone time. Brock and I have realized how great date night is and I'm so grateful that he has helped keep our new years resolution of a weekly date night. It really makes me a better mother, friend, wife and really just a more pleasant person. We've had fun trying new things just in an effort to not have the same boring date each week. One thing that is always apart of date night is I Swirl. When we moved out to the PHX we were shocked when we couldn't find a donut shop (we all need one every 6 months or so, right?) or a frozen yogurt shop (hello people with 100+ temps in the summer that should be mandatory!). We were so happy when a month ago we drove by our local strip mall and saw I Swirl. It makes us so happy. It's the best of both worlds Pinkberry married with GAY (HB yogurt shop) but without the Nazzi (thank goodness). We love it. Brock gets Pineapple, Blueberry, and Original and everytime remarks how refreshing it is. I stick with the Original with granola and blueberries as toppings. Heaven is the best way to describe it. I haven't had it all week and am hoping we stop off there before coming home from the airport tonight. Love you Brock can't wait to see you!

We Heart I Swirl

This night we brought our friend and old HB roomie Paige with us who also calls PHX home now and has felt the no yogurt pain with us. She's the greatest!

Memorial Day 2008 - Lake Powell

We were able to go out to Lake Powell over Memorial Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Ohlson (along with baby Jack and many others). It was a bit chilly, we went through a snow storm in Flagstaff on our way, but it ended up being quite nice anyway. We had some fun motorcycling, fishing, playing on the beach, and one wake board run by Uncle Jordan. Cameras shouldn't be allowed. No one should be able to prove that we all let ourselves look so dishellved, so we got only a few pics of the kids. Clay is happy wherever we are and Owen had a great time. He's finally old enough where we don't feel stressed to have him on the boat around the water. He was so happy to be back with his Dad after 2 weeks and although that caused him to act up a bit for attention we survived and had a great time overall. On the drive home he thanked us for taking him to Lake Powell and said he couldn't wait to go again. So 4th of July we'll be back.

Clay's 18th (or rather 21st month)

We had Clay's 18 month check up just 3 months late today (oops). He's weighing in at 24 lbs. 32" tall with a 19 1/2" head. The Dr. asked if big heads ran in the family (ha-ha) yes we can thank dad for that. He had to get one shot and handled it like a trooper just one little whimper but no crying or screaming. He is such a sweet, tough guy. He actually freaked out most when they wanted to weigh him and get his height. I can't blame him though they just strip you down and start doing things and don't even introduce themselves I'd be mad and unsure of the whole thing too. Clay's exzema has gotten worse over the last week as the temps have continued to rise out here so we got some new ointment for it that hopefully will help. He's got such a cute personality and Brock and I find ourselves looking at each other all too often saying "there isn't possibly a cuter kid out there" between his blue eyes, his funny faces, and kind spirit he's a dream come true.

Oh and he's so cute when he blows kisses (or spits!) he blows kisses to his 'bite and blanket' every morning and after naps because he knows he won't see them again until sleep time.
